Pembacaan Alkitab: Yosua 23-24

Kita memiliki pilihan di dalam hidup. Kita dapat memilih untuk berbuat baik atau berbuat jahat, untuk mengasihi seseorang atau membenci,untuk mengampuni atau tidak dan untuk mengikuti Tuhan Yesus kristus atau allah-allah lainnya. Sama seperti Israel yang diingatkan akan hal-hal yang mereka telah dengar dari nenek moyang mereka, dan apa yang mereka telah alami dan saksikan sendiri dan lalu mereka diminta untuk memilih yang mana yang mereka ingin ikuti. Apakah mereka ingin ikuti Tuhan Allah nenek moyang mereka yakni Allah Abraham, Ishak dan Yakub, atau allah yang disembah oleh nenek moyang Abraham, atau allah dari bangsa yang tinggal di antara mereka. Israel juga diberikan kebebasan untuk memilih yang mana yang mereka ingin ikuti. Tentunya setiap pilihan memiliki konsekuensi masing-masing dan Israel setelah mengingat akan apa yang mereka telah dengar, mereka telah saksikan dan alami dan apa yang mereka telah lihat di sekitar mereka, Israel memilih untuk ikuti Tuhan.

Bagaimana dengan kita? Apakah kita ikuti Tuhan Yesus Kristus? Ataukah kita ikuti allah-allah lain yang ada di sekitar kita? Sudahkah kita alami dan saksikan sendiri pekerjaan tangan Tuhan di dalam kehidupan kita? Bila belum, biarlah kita meminta agar kita mengalami Tuhan sehingga kita mengenal bahwa hanya ada satu Allah dan satu Tuhan. Sebab mereka yang mencari akan mendapatkan, dan bila kita pada akhirnya memilih untuk mengikuti kebenaran, yakni Tuhan Yesus Kristus, maka kita akan mengalami leibh banyak lagi kuasa tangan Tuhan dan pimpinan-Nya saat kita berserah kepada-Nya dan dengan setia melakukan perintah-perintah-Nya, seperti Israel yang mengalami kuasa Tuhan.

Jadi marilah kita memilih untuk ikut Tuhan setiap hari dan setiap saat, setiap detik. Biarlah kita memilih untuk mengikuti kebenaran dan bukan kepuasan daging. Biarlah kita hidup hanya beribadah dan menyembah Tuhan Yesus Kristus yang telah mati untuk kita semua agar kita mendapatkan hidup.

Bible Reading: Joshua 23-24

We all have choices in life. We can choose to do good or bad, to love or to hate, to forgive or not to forgive, to follow the Lord Jesus Christ or to follow other gods. The same as when Israelites was reminded of all the things they have heard from their ancestors and what they have experienced and witnessed themselves and then they were asked to choose which one do they want to follow. Do they want to follow the Lord God of their ancestors, that is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, or the gods that was worshiped by Abraham's ancestors or the gods from the nations that lives among them. Israel was also given the freedom to choose. Of course every choice has its own consequences and Israel, after remembering what they have heard, witnessed and experienced, they chose to follow the Lord.

What about us? Are we following the Lord Jesus Christ? Or are we following other gods that is among us? Have we experience and witness ourselves of the work of the hands of the Lord in our lives? If we haven't,let us ask to experience the Lord so that we know that there is only one God and one Lord. Because they who seek will find and if we choose to follow the truth that is the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will experience more of His power and guidance then we surrender to Him.

So, let us choose to follow the Lord every day and every moment, every second. Let us choose to follow the truth and not the desire of our flesh. Let us live only to worship the Lord Jesus Christ who died for all of us so that we may live.
