Yohanes Pembaptis dikatakan sebagai utusan yang mempersiapkan jalan bagi Yesus untuk membawa berita keselamatan. Dan sekarang, jalan itu telah ada, jalan menuju kehidupan kekal, yakni Tuhan Yesus Kristus. Tetapi itu belumlah kesudahan dari segalanya, Tuhan masih akan datang untuk kedua-kalinya dan kali ini kita, orang-orang percaya adalah yohanes-yohanes pembaptis di jaman ini. Sebagai orang percaya, Tuhan meminta agar kita memberitakan Injil-Nya sehingga semua orang mengenal Tuhan, karena Tuhan datang untuk menyelamatkan semua orang. Jadi tugas kita sebagai yohanes-yohanes pembaptis jaman sekarang adalah untuk mempersiapkan diri dan dunia sebagai mempelai yang siap menyambut Tuhan Yesus Kristus sebagai Mempelai Lelaki yang datang menjemput umat-Nya, gereja-Nya. Bagaimanakah kita dapat lakukan hal ini?

Caranya adalah melakukan apa yang Tuhan perintahkan di dalam Matius 28:18-20, yakni untuk kita pergi, memberitakan Injil keselamatan, menjadikan bangsa-bangsa murid Tuhan, membaptis mereka di dalam nama Bapa, Putra dan Roh Kudus, serta mengajarkan mereka akan perintah-perintah Tuhan. Dengan kita membagikan kesaksian kita akan apa yang kita alami dan lewati bersama dengan Tuhan Yesus Kristus, kita juga dapat membawa jiwa-jiwa kembali kepada Pencipta mereka. Kita juga dapat mengambil contoh kehidupan para rasul yang bersekutu setiap hari, melayani Tuhan, menginjil di segala tempat akan Yesus.

Oleh sebab itu, marilah kita lakukan bagian kita sebagai yohanes-yohanes pembaptis di jaman kini. Marilah kita persiapkan diri kita dan juga gereja-Nya sebagai mempelai yang siap menyambut Sang Mempelai Lelaki, yakni Tuhan Yesus Kristus.

John the Baptist is said to be the messenger sent forth to prepare the way for Jesus to bring the news of salvation. Now, the way is prepared, the way to eternal life, that is the Lord Jesus Christ. But this is not the end of it, the Lord will come for the second time and this time, we as believers are john the baptist of this age. As believers, the Lord wants us to spread His Gospel so that all men may know the Lord, because the Lord came to save all men. So our duty as john the baptist of this age is to prepare ourselves and the world as a bride who is ready to welcome the Lord Jesus Christ as the Groom who comes to take His people, His church. How can we do this?

The way is to do what the Lord commanded us to do in Matthew 28:18-20, that is for us to go, spread the Gospel of Salvation, make the nations His disciples, baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, also teaching them of the commandments of God. By sharing our testimonies on what we experienced and go through with the Lord Jesus Christ, we can also bring souls to go back to their Creator. We can also take the examples of the lives of the apostles who had fellowships daily, serving the Lord, preaching in all places about Jesus.

Therefore, let us do our part as john the baptists of this age. Let us prepare ourselves and also His church as bride who is ready to welcome the Groom, who is the Lord Jesus Christ.
