Mazmur ini sepertinya diungkapkan oleh seseorang yang sakit parah, sehingga ia berkata bahwa ia dekat dengan liang kubur. Dalam mazmur ini kita dapat melihat bahwa ia memulai dengan sebuah pernyataan kepada Tuhan, bahwa Tuhanlah Allah yang menyelamatkan. Ia juga berseru-seru kepada Tuhan siang dan malam setiap harinya untuk Tuhan menolong. Inilah iman yang perlu kita contoh. Walaupun kesembuhan atau pemulihan belum terjadi, ia tetap akui dan nyatakan bahwa Tuhanlah Allah yang menyelamatkan dan ia tidak berhenti untuk meminta kepada Tuhan. Iman yang Tuhan berikan kepada kita melalui Firman-Nya perlu kita pratekkan dengan cara yang sama. Walaupun kita belum melihat kesembuhan, pemulihan, pertolongan atau turut campur Tuhan di kehidupan kita, tetapi kita tahu, akui dan beriman bahwa Tuhanlah penyelamat, penolong, penyembuh dan yang memulihkan kita. Dan tentunya kita tidak tinggal diam saja, tetapi kita terus berseru-seru kepada Tuhan siang dan malam dan lakukan bagian kita yang perlu kita lakukan. Oleh sebab itu, biarlah kita terus beriman kepada Tuhan dan praktekkan iman itu.

Bible Reading: Psalm 88
This psalm seems to be sung by someone who is at his deathbed or very sick, that he says that he is near death. In this psalm we can see that he started with a declaration to the Lord, that the Lord is the God who saves. He also cries out to the Lord day and night daily for the Lord to help. This is the kind of faith that we need to follow. Even though healing or restoration may not happen yet, he still confess and declare that the Lord is the God who saves and he did not stop to ask from the Lord. The faith that the Lord gave to us through His Words need to be practiced in the same way. Even though we have not yet seen healing, restoration, help or intervention of the Lord in our lives, but we know, confess and have faith that the Lord is our saviour, helper, healer, and one who restores us. And of course we do not just stay still, but we keep on crying out to the Lord day and night and do our part that we need to do. Therefore, let us keep on having faith to the Lord and practise that faith.
