Paulus mengajarkan bahwa tubuh lama kita telah mati oleh karena Yesus Kristus, melalui baptisan air. Dan semua itu agar kita tidak lagi menjadi hamba dosa dan agar kita lepas dari hukum dosa. Sehingga kita menjadi milik Kristus dan agar kita berbuah bagi Tuhan, sebab kita tidak lagi hidup di bahwa hukum dosa, tetapi kita hidup menurut Roh di dalam kehidupan baru bersama Tuhan Yesus Kristus. Oleh sebab itu, biarlah kita periksa kehidupan kita ini. Sudah berapa lama kita percaya kepada Tuhan Yesus Kristus sebagai satu-satunya TUhan dan Juru Selamat pribadi kita? Dan selama kita telah menjadi orang percaya, apakah kita telah hidup menurut Roh dan berbuah ataukah kita masih saja hidup di bawa hukum dosa dan kembali kepada kehidupan kita yang lama? Adakah perubahan di dalam hidup, karakter, sifat dan gaya hidup kita? Bila kita hidup sebagia orang percaya yang hanya sekedar ke gereja karena merasa harus dan tidak benar-benar ada perubahan hidup, maka kita perlu untuk benar-benar bertobat, sebab bila kita hidup di dalam Roh, maka kita akan berbuah bagi Tuhan.

Paul teaches that our old lives has died because of Jesus Christ, through water baptism. And all of that is so that we are no longer slaves of sin and so that we are set free from the law of sin. Such that we belong to Christ and so that we would bear fruits for the Lord, for we are no longer living under the law fo sin but we are living by the Spirit in a new life with the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, let us check our lives. How many years has it been since we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as our only Lord and personal Saviour? And all this time we lived as a believer, have we lived according to the Spirit or do we still live under the law of sin and go back to the old lives which was buried? Is there any changes in our lives, character, attitude and lifestyle? If we live as a believer who only come to church because we feel that we have to and do not really have any life changes, then we need to really repent, because if we live by the Spirit, we will bear fruits for the Lord.
