Di dalam mazmur 123, diungkapkan akan kerinduan bangsa Israel untuk mengalami lawatan dan belas kasihan Tuhan. Ini adalah jeritan orang-orang yang tertindas, yang sudah tidak tahan lagi akan mereka yang menghina dan yang menyombongkan diri. Setiap dari kita mungkin mengalami penghinaan dalam hal yang berbeda-beda, atau juga mungkin penindasan atau olokan yang terus menerus. Tetapi mazmur ini mengajarkan kita agar kita beharap kepada Tuhan, menanti-nantikan belas kasihan, kasih setia dan anugrah Tuhan dicurahkan di saat yang tepat. Dan jika kita manusia saja dapat memberikan belas kasihan kepada mereka yang tertindas terus menerus, apalagi Tuhan, Allah yang adalah kasih. Oleh karena itu, berharaplah kepada Tuhan dan nantikanlah belas kasihan dan anugrah Tuhan dengan setia, maka Ia akan melepaskan kita. Terpujilah Tuhan, Allah yang mengasihi umat-Nya!

In psalm 123, it is an expression of the desire of the Israelites to experience the touch and mercy of the Lord. This is the cry of the oppressed, those who no longer can take more contempt from the arrogant and the proud. Everyone of us may experience different kinds of constant oppression or contempt. But this psalm teaches us to hope i the Lord, to wait for His mercy, love and grace to be poured out at the right time. And if we as human can be merciful towards those who are constantly oppresed, moreover, the Lord, God, who is love. Therefore, hope in the Lord and wait for His mercy and grace faithfully, then He will deliver us. Blessed be the Lord, God, who loves His people!
