Paulus merangkup seluruh hukum taurat dengan satu prinsip, yakni kasihilah sesamamu manusia seperti dirimu sendiri. Hal ini adalah benar sebab bila kita mengasihi sesama kita seperti kita mengasihi diri sendiri, maka kita tidak akan berbuat curang, menipu, membenci, menjahati, iri, mencuri, berbuat cabul, dan sebagainya. Kita akan menghormati dan menghargai sesama kita dan akan memperlakukan mereka seperti kita ingin diperlakukan. Tetapi hal ini tidak dapat kita lakukan dengan kekuatan kita sendiri. Paulus menasihatkan agar kita hidup oleh Roh, sebab bila kita hidup oleh Roh, maka kita tidak mengikuti keinginan daging. Makin banyak kita memberi makan kepada roh kita dan makin banyak kita bersekutu dengan Tuhan dan Roh Kudus-Nya, maka iman kita akan makin kuat untuk melawan kedagingan kita. Oleh sebab itu, biarlah kita hidup oleh Roh, dipimpin oleh Roh dalam menjalani hidup ini sambil mengasihi Tuhan melebihi segalanya dan mengasihi sesama kita seperti diri kita sendiri.

Paul summarise the whole law into one principle, that is, love your neighbour as yourself. This is true for if we love our neighbour as ourselves, we will not be deceitful, lie, hate, do wicked things, envy, steal, commit adultery, and others. We will honour and appreciate our neighbours and we will treat them as we want them to treat us. But this cannot be done with our own strength. Paul advised us to live by the Spirit, for if we live by the Spirit, we will not follow our flesh. The more we give our spirit food and the more fellowships we have with the Lord and His Holy Spirit, then the stronger the faith that we have to go against our flesh. Therefore, let us live by the Spirit, lead by the Spirit in living this life while loving the Lord above all else and loving our neighbours as ourselves.
