Pembacaan Alkitab: Bilangan 32
Mengenai permintaan dari bani Gad, Ruben dan setengah dari Manasye, untuk tinggal di tanah sebelah barat sungai Yordan, Musa tidak bertanya kepada Tuhan untuk menjawab mereka. Tetapi Musa tahu akan janji Tuhan, akan apa yang harus Israel lakukan untuk memenuhi rencana Tuhan dan Musa menjawab mereka dengan hikmat dan dengan memastikan bahwa rencana Tuhan tetap jalan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Tuhan kita itu Tuhan yang tidak memaksakan, Ia membiarkan bani Gad, Ruben dan setengah Manasye mendapatkan apa yang mereka inginkan, asalkan janji yang Tuhan janjikan tetap terpenuhi. Bila kita terjemahkan ke dalam kehidupan kita sehari-harinya, Tuhan memiliki rencana bagi kita dan ada hal-hal yang Ia ingin kita lakukan dan kerjakan selama di dunia ini, tetapi tidak berarti hanya ada satu jalan, tetapi kita memiliki kehendak bebas untuk memilih jalan yang ingin kita tempuh asalkan kita tetap menuju akhir yang Tuhan inginkan. Tentunya lebih baik bila kita dapat selalu memilih jalan yang Tuhan inginkan, tetapi itu tergantung dengan sikap kita. Bila kita meminta pemberkatan Tuhan atas jalan yang sudah kita pilih tanpa bertanya kepada Tuhan, seperti bani Gad, Ruben dan setengah dari Manasye, maka Tuhan akan mengijinkannya, walaupun mungkin bukan jalan terbaik. Tetapi bila kita meminta untuk Tuhan memimpin dan menunjukkan jalan-Nya, tentunya itu lebih baik. Dari sini kita belajar bahwa Tuhan tidak memaksakan dan kita memiliki kehendak bebas untuk memilih, hanya saja, memang lebih baik bila kita biarkan Tuhan yang memimpin. Jadi, sisanya ada di tangan kita masing-masing. Apakah kita ingin memilih jalan sendiri ataukah kita akan membiarkan Tuhan memimpin dan menunjukkan jalan yang Ia telah rencanakan sebagai yang terbaik?

Bible Reading: Numbers 32
Regarding the request of tribe of Gad, Reuben and half of Manasseh, to stay on the west side of the Jordan river, Moses did not ask the Lord to answer them. But Moses knows of the promise of the Lord, of what Israelites needed to do to fulfill the promise and plan of God and Moses answered them with wisdom and assurance that the plan of God will still be fulfilled. This shows that the Lord is a God who does not force us, He let the tribe of Gad, Reuben and half of Manasseh to get what they want, as long as the promise of God is still fulfilled. If we translate that into our daily lives, the Lord has plans for us and there are things that He wants us to do while we are on this earth, but it does not mean there is only one way, but we have a free will to choose the path we want to take, as long as in the end we reach what God wants. Of course it is better for us to always choose the path the God wants, but it all depends on us. If we ask for blessings of what we have decided without asking the Lord, just like the tribe of Gad, Reuben and half of Manasseh, then the Lord will allow it, even though it may not be the best path. But if we ask the Lord to lead and show us His way, then it surely is better. Here, we learn that the Lord does not force us and we have free will to choose, it is only that it always is better to let God lead. So, the rest is in our own hands. Do we want to choose our own path or do we let God lead and show us the best path that He has planned?
