Pembacaan Alkitab: Yeremia 50
Pada awalnya Tuhan bernubuat bahwa Israel dan Yehuda akan jatuh ke dalam kuasa Babel dan mereka akan dijajah oleh Babel. Sekarang Tuhan juga bernubuat bahwa Babel akan jatuh dan hancur dan umat-Nya akan seperti domba yang tercerai berai yang berjalan mencari Sion, yakni gunung Tuhan. Kita sudah lihat bagaimana Tuhan menghukum Israel dan Yehuda dengan membuat mereka jatuh ke tangan Babel, karena ketidak-setiaan mereka dan keteganr tengkukan mereka. Tetapi Babel sendiri juga bukanlah bangsa yang takut akan Tuhan ataupun mengikuti jalan Tuhan, oleh karena itu sudah pasti Babelpun akan menerima penghukuman dari Tuhan akibat kesombongannya. Jadi sebenarnya tidak ada yang terjadi tanpa seijin Tuhan dan Israel dan Yehuda diijinkan Tuhan untuk melewati penjajahan untuk mendidik Israel dan Yehuda akan dosa mereka dan agar mereka mau kembali kepada Tuhan. Seringkali mungkin kita melihat bagaimana orang yang tidak mengenal Tuhan sepertinya memiliki hidup yang lebih baik di bandingkan dengan kita, atau juga mungkin kita merasa dijajah atau ditekan oleh mereka. Tetapi janganlah kita iri hati, tetapi biarlah kita justru makin giat mencari Tuhan dan bertanya akan maksud dari apa yang terjadi. Mungkin saja Tuhan membiarkan itu terjadi untuk mendisiplin kita, atau agar kita makin hari makin bersandar dengan Tuhan. Apapaun itu, kita tahu bahwa Tuhan bekerja untuk kebaikan umat-Nya yang mengasihi Dia. Dan kita juga tahu bahwa Tuhan itu adil dan benar, jadi tidak akan ada orang yang akan terluput dari dosa mereka, kecuali mereka bertobat dan mengikuti Tuhan, maka dosa mereka akan dihapuskan oleh darah Tuhan Yesus Kristus. Jadi, janganlah kita putus asa atau iri hati melihat orang yang sepertinya lebih baik dengan kita seperti Israel dan Yehuda melihat Babel, tetapi biarlah kita belajar dari kesalahan Israel dan Yehuda dengan terus berlaku setia terhadap Tuhan dan mencari-Nya setiap hari.

Bible Reading: Jeremiah 50
In the beginning the Lord prophesied that Israel and Judah will fall into the hand of Babylonians and they will be oppressed by them. Now the Lord prophesied that Babylonians will fall and be broken and His people will be like sheep scattered about and trying to find the way to Zion, the mountain of God. We have seen how the Lord punished Israel and Judah by making them fall into the hands of the Babylonians, because of their unfaithfulness and stiff-necked attitude. But the Babylonians also is not a nation who fears the Lord nor follows His way, therefore it is sure that the Babylonians will also receive punishment from the Lord due to their arrogance. So there is nothing that happens without God allowing it to happen and Israel and Judah was allowed to be oppressed to discipline Israel and Judah of their sins so that they would come back to the Lord. Many times we may see how people who does not believe in the Lord seems to have a better life compared to us, or we may even feel oppressed by them. But do not envy, but let us seek the Lord even more and ask of Him the reasons for what happens. Maybe the Lord allows it to happen to discipline us, or so that we would rely on Him more. Whatever it is, we know that the Lord works for the god of those who loves Him. And we also know that the Lord is just and righteous, so there will be no one who can get away with the punishment of sin, unless they repent and follow the Lord, then their sins will be wiped away by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. So, do not lose heart or envy seeing others who seems to have a better life than us, like the Israel and Judah who saw the Babylonians, but let us learn from the mistake of Israel and Judah and keep on being faithful to the Lord and seeking Him everyday.

Seringkali mungkin kita melihat bagaimana orang yang tidak mengenal Tuhan sepertinya memiliki hidup yang lebih baik di bandingkan dengan kita, atau juga mungkin kita merasa dijajah atau ditekan oleh mereka. Tetapi janganlah kita iri hati, tetapi biarlah kita justru makin giat mencari Tuhan dan bertanya akan maksud dari apa yang terjadi. Mungkin saja Tuhan membiarkan itu terjadi untuk mendisiplin kita, atau agar kita makin hari makin bersandar dengan Tuhan. Apapaun itu, kita tahu bahwa Tuhan bekerja untuk kebaikan umat-Nya yang mengasihi Dia. Dan kita juga tahu bahwa Tuhan itu adil dan benar, jadi tidak akan ada orang yang akan terluput dari dosa mereka, kecuali mereka bertobat dan mengikuti Tuhan, maka dosa mereka akan dihapuskan oleh darah Tuhan Yesus Kristus. Jadi, janganlah kita putus asa atau iri hati melihat orang yang sepertinya lebih baik dengan kita seperti Israel dan Yehuda melihat Babel, tetapi biarlah kita belajar dari kesalahan Israel dan Yehuda dengan terus berlaku setia terhadap Tuhan dan mencari-Nya setiap hari.
