Elifas, salah seorang teman Ayub berkata dan mengkhotbahi Ayub bahwa orang yang benar pasti hidupnya sukses dan tidak menderita sedangkan mereka yang berdosa pasti menderita. Tetapi bila kita baca sejarah orang israel dan juga pasal-pasal sebelumnya hal ini tidaklah benar secara keseluruhannya. Pada akhirnya, ya, yang hidupnya benar akan mendapati hidup kekal bersama Tuhan di mana tidak ada kesengsaraan, dan mereka yang hidupnya berdosa, pada akhir hidup mereka mereka mendapati kematian kekal di mana penuh dengan kesengsaraan. Tetapi dalam kehidupan di atas bumi, Tuhan tidak pernah berjanji akan kehidupan yang selalu mulus, tetapi Tuhan berjanji bahwa Ia akan beserta kita. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Elifas tahu sedikit akan kebenaran Tuhan, tetapi tidak secara keseluruhannya. Seringkali kita juga berpikir seperti Elifas, yakni bahwa bila kita percaya kepada Tuhan, maka kehidupan kita akan mulus, kita akan selalu diberkati secara kekayaan dan akan makmur. Hal ini tidaklah sepenuhnya benar, ya memang betul Tuhan akan memberkati kita, tetapi tidak selalu berupa uang atau kekayaan. Tuhan dapat memberkati kita dengan memberikan kita hidup yang cukup, atau kesehatan yang baik, damai, sukacita dan harapan di hati dan hidup. Sayangnya banyak yang menghubungkan berkat dengan kekayaan, sedangkan berkat Tuhan tidaklah terbatas seperti itu. Berkat Tuhan jauh melebihi kekayaan, berkat-Nya mencakupi seluruh kehidupan kita dan yang terpenting adalah harapan, kasih dan iman yang membuat kita kuat dan dapat melalui apapun yang kita hadapi bersama dengan Tuhan. Hubngan dengan Tuhanlah berkat yang sejati. Jadi, janganlah kita mau tertipu oleh iblis yang membuat kita buta dari kebenaran secara keseluruhannya. Ingatlah, Tuhan tidak pernah berjanji akan hidup yang selalu mulus, tetapi Ia berjanji bahwa Ia mendengarkan seruan kita, bahwa Ia tidak akan pernah meninggalkan kita. Peganglah akan harapan dan janji Tuhan itu.

Eliphas, one of Job's friends said and preached to Job that the righteous will always be successful and will not suffer, while they who sins will definitey suffer. But if we read the history of the Israelites and the previos chapters, we know that this is not entirely true. At the end of our lives, yes, those who lives righteously will receive eternal life with the Lord where there is no suffering, and those who sins, at the end of their lives they receive eternal death where there are sufferings. But about life on earth, God never promised a smooth sailing life, but the Lord promised that He will be with us. This shows that Eliphas knows a little about the truth of God but not in its entirety. Many times we think like Eliphas too, that if we believe in GOd, then our lives will be smoth sailing, that we will be blessed in riches and will be wealthy. This is not entirely true, yes God blesses us, but it does not always come in a form of money or wealth. THe Lord can bless us by giving us a sufficient life, or a good health, peace, joy and hope in our hearts and lives. Unfortunately there are many that connects blessings with riches, while the blessing of God is not so little and limited as that alone. The blessings of God goes beyond riches, His blessings covers our whole lives and the most important is hope, love and faith that makes us strong and able to go through anything with the Lord. Relationship with the Lord is the true blessing. So, do not be deceived by the devil who makes us blind from the entirety of the truth. Remember that the Lord never promised a smooth sailing life, but He promised that He will listen to our cries, that He will never leave us. Hold on to that hope and promises of God.
