Pembacaan Alkitab: Kisah Para Rasul 5
Ketika para rasul di tangkap dan disidang lagi oleh para imam dan orang Farisi, mereka kembali di ancam dan ditekan untukl tidak memberitakan tentang Yesus. Kali ni pun Tuhan membela umat-Nya sebab para rasul juga tetap setia kepada Tuhan. Para rasul tetap berkata bahwa mereka lebih baik taat kepada Tuhan daripada manusia dan pada akhirnya setelah mereka dilepas, para rasul justru senang, bukan hanya karena Tuhan melepaskan mereka, tetapi karena mereka dianggap layak menderita penghinaan oleh karena nama Yesus. Tentunya hal ini terdengar sangat aneh, mengapa para rasul senang menderita karena nama Yesus? Mereka senang karena bila mereka menderita penghinaan karena nama Yesus, maka mereka hidup untuk Yesus dan menjalani apa yang Yesus ajarkan ketika Yesus masih di tengah-tengah para rasul dan belum diangkat ke Surga. Justru bila mereka tidak menerima penghinaan karena nama Yesus, maka mereka mungkin kompromi dengan pemberitaan mereka akan Yesus atau kompromi dengan kehidupan mereka. Misalnya, bila mereka percaya Yesus tetapi tidak pernah memberitakan Yesus dan hanya disimpan sendiri saja karena takut akan penghakiman dari orang banyak, maka ini adalah kompromi terhadap iman mereka kepada Tuhan. Nah, hal inilah yang perlu kita hindari dari kehidupan kita, yakni hidup yang berkompromi dengan Firman Tuhan dan kebenaran-Nya. Firman Tuhan adalah Ya dan Amin dan kita tidak dapat mengikutinya setengah-setengah saja. Tetapi apa yang kita sudah mengerti, kita perlu terapkan dan jalankan di dalam kehidupan kita agar kita tidak kompromi dengan Firman dan kebenaran Tuhan. Para Rasul adalah contoh dari orang percaya yang tidak kompromi, apa kata Firman Tuhan, mereka lakukan tanpa takut akan manusia, sebab mereka lebih takut akan Allah daripada manusia. Oleh karena itu, biarlah kita belajar untuk tidak kompromi, belajar untuk menghidupi dan memberitakan Firman Tuhan dan kebenaran-Nya sehari-harinya. Jangan biarkan ketakutan akan penghakiman dari manusia membuat kita tidak taat kepada Tuhan, tetapi biarlah kita lebih takut akan Allah daripada manusia.

Bible Reading: Acts 5
When the apostles was captured and was trialed again by the priests and the Pharisees, they were threatened again to not speak of Jesus. This time, the Lord also helped them because they were also faithful to the Lord. The aposltes still said that it is better for them to obey the Lord than men and in the end when they were released, the apostles was happy, not just because the Lord has set them free, but because they were deemed worthy to suffer for Jesus'' name. This sure sounds weird, why would the apostles be happy to suffer for Jesus' name? They were happy because if they suffer shame because of Jesus'name, then they are living for Jesus and doing what Jesus taught them when Jesus was still in their midst, before He ascended to Heaven. If in fact, they did not suffer shame because of Jesus'name, then maybe they compromised with their message of Jesus or compromise their lives. For example, if they believe in Jesus but never shared about Jesus and only kept it to themselves because they were afraid of the judgment of the people, then this is a compromise to their faith to the Lord. This is what we need to avoid in our lives, that is a live that is compromising with the Word of God and His righteousness. The Word of God is Yes and Amen, and we cannot just follow some parts of it. But what we have understood, we need to apply it and walk it in our lives so that we would not compromise with the Word of God and His righteousness. The Apostles are example of believers who do not comrpomise, what the Word of God said, they did it without being afraid of men, because they fear God more than men. Therefore, let us learn to not compromise, learn to live and share the Word of God and His righteousness every day. Do not let the fear of judgment of men make us disobey God, but let us fear the Lord more than men.
