Pembacaan Alkitab: Ezra 1-2
Bila kita perhatikan kata-kata raja Koresh, kita dapat simpulkan bahwa ia mengakui kebesaran Tuhan dan bahwa Tuhan itu adalah Allah yang hidup. Namun, dia tetap tidak menganggap dirinya sebagai umat Tuhan, sebab ia hanya mengakui kehebatan Tuhan dan tunduk kepada kebesaran Tuhan, tetapi tidak menyembah kepada Tuhan. Seringkali dua hal ini dianggap sama, satu dan yang lain, yakni bila seseorang mengakui kebesaran Tuhan, maka ia pasti menyembah Tuhan. Tetapi nyatanya tidaklah demikian, sebab seseorang dapat mengakui kebesaran Tuhan, tetapi tidak berarti bahwa ia rela memberikan hidupnya seluruhnya bagi Tuhan dan kehendak-Nya. Maka dari itu sangatlah penting bagi kita untuk selalu memeriksa hidup kita, apakah kita hanya mengakui dan tahu akan kebesaran Tuhan, ataukah kita juga benar-benar memberikan hidup kita untuk Tuhan dan kemuliaan-Nya? Hal ini dapat juga digambarkan dengan penonton dan pemain bola. Penonton mengagumi permainan bola dan mengakui keahlian dan bagusnya permainan bola, tetapi tidak ikut serta dan tidak memberikan hidupnya untuk permainan bola. Tetapi pemain bola, adalah seseorang yang mengagumi, menyukai dan memberikan hidupnya untuk permainan bola dan kemuliaannya. Penonton hanya dapat menyaksikan dan mendapat cipratan kemuliaan dan serunya, tetapi pemain bola mengalami secara keseluruhannya, tubuhnya, pikirannya, hatinya tenggelam di dalam arena permainan bola itu dan ia tenggelam di dalam kemuliaan permainan bola itu. Begitu juga dengan Tuhan, bila kita hanya penonton seperti raja Koresh, maka kita hanya mendapat cipratan dan menyaksikan kemuliaan-Nya, tetapi bila kita ikut serta sebagai umat Tuhan, maka kita mengalami hadirat dan kemuliaan-Nya setiap saat. Jadi, yang manakah kita, penonton atau pemain bola? Umat Israel atau raja Koresh?

Bible Reading: Ezra 1-2
If we notice the words that king Cyrus, we can conclude that he acknowledge the greatness of the Lord and that the Lord is a living God. But, he still did not consider himself the people of God, because he only acknowledge the greatness and power of God, but did not worship the Lord. Many times these two things are considered the same, that, if someone can acknowledge and admit the greatness of God that person must also worship the Lord. But in reality it is not so, because one can acknowledge the greatness of God, but does not mean that one is willing to give one's life for God and His will. Therefore, it is important for us to always introspect our lives, do we only acknowledge and know of the greatness of God, or do we really give our lives for God and His glory? This can also be illustrated as specttors and ball players. Spectators adores the game and acknowledge the skill and the excitement of the game, but did not give their lives for the game. But ball players are those who adores the game, likes the game and gives their lives for the game and its glory. Spectators only watched and get a glimpse of the glory and excitement, but the players experience it with his whole being, his body, mind and heart are enveloped in the arena and he is bathed in the glory of the game. The same goes with the Lord, if we are only spectators like king Cyrus, then we only get a glimpse of the glory of God, but if we get involve as the people of God, then we will experience His glory and presence every moment. So, which one are we, spectators or players? The Israelites or king Cyrus?
