Pembacaan Alkitab: Nehemia 12
Bila kita perhatikan akan arus dan jalannya pembangunan tembok Yerusalem dan kebangkitan rohani orang-orang Yehuda dan Israel, kita dapat melihat bahwa setelah tembok itu di bangun, mereka memperbaiki kehidupan rakyat, memberikan fondasi yang benar dan setelahnya baru tugas-tugas dibagikan untuk kemuliaan Tuhan. Hal yang sama perlu kita lakukan bagi siapapun yang sudah lama jauh dari Tuhan, yang sudah lama meninggalkan Tuhan ataupun bagi mereka yang baru mengenal Tuhan. Kita perlu untuk membimbing mereka dalam pertobatan yang sungguh, memperbaiki kehidupan mereka, membuang segala yang jahat dan tidak berkenan di hadapan Tuhan. Kita juga perlu untuk mengajarkan mereka kembali akan Firman Tuhan, mengingatkan lagi akan kebenaran Tuhan yang sudah lama tidak mereka dengar atau memang belum pernah diajarkan. Kemudian setelah ada kebangkitan rohani di dalam mereka, barulah kita memberikan mereka tugas dan tanggung jawab agar kehidupan mereka memuliakan Tuhan. Seringkali gereja-gereja mengambil dua ujung yang sangat berbeda, yakni bahwa orang-orang yang pernah jatuh dan jauh dari Tuhan tidak diberi kesempatan sama sekali untuk bertobat, dipulihkan dan memuliakan Tuhan kembali melalui kehidupannya, atau mereka tidak dipastikan lebih darhulu akan pertobatan mereka dan tidak diajarkan kembali dahulu sebelum mereka kembali melayani umat Tuhan. Biarlah kita belajar untuk memberi kesempatan kembali kepada mereka yang bertobat, baik sudah lama mengenal Tuhan atau yang baru mengenal Tuhan. Biarlah juga kita mengajarkan kembali fondasi kebenaran Firman Tuhan, sebab mereka yang tidak memiliki hati yang mau diajar, belumlah benar-benar bertobat. Dan barulah kita beri tanggung jawab agar mereka bertumbuh dalam iman dan memuliakan Tuhan.

If we look carefully at the flow of the building of the wall of Jerusalem and the revival of Judah and Israel, we can see that after the wall was done, they clean up the act of the people, giving them the right foundation and then duties and responsibilities were distributed for God's glory. We should follow the same procedure for any one who are far away from God, who have left God and comes back or for those who just come to know God. We need to guide them in true repentance, help to clean up their act, throwing away all the wicked and displeasing acts. We also need to teach them again of the Word of God, to remind them again of the righteousness of God that they have not heard for a long time or that they have not been taught before. After there is a revival in them, then we can give them duties and responsibilities so that they would glorify the Lord. Many times churches takes the two extreme ends, that those who have fallen and far from God are not given any chance to repent, be restored and to glorify God again through their lives, or that their repentance was not firmly confirmed yet and they have not been refreshed by the righteousness of God through teaching again, before they come back to minister to the people of God. Let us learn to give chances for those who repents, whether they have known God for a long time or just came to know God. Let us also teach the foundation of the righteousness of God again, because they who do not have the willingness to learn and be taught, have notr eally repent. Then, we can give them responsibilities so that they can grow in faith and glorify the Lord.
