Pembacaan Alkitab: 1Raja-Raja 19-20

Bible Reading: 1Kings 19-20
WHen Elijah heard that Jezebel wanted to kill him and there were no other commands from the Lord as to what he must do or where he must go, Elijah ran from Jezebel. Elijah went to Mount Horeb, the mountain of God to seek the guidance of the Lord. And through his journey, he was taken care of by God and was given food and drink twice so that he would have the strength to walk 40 days and 40 nights. But as a man, Elijah was facing a dead end and did not know what else to do, for he had done all that the Lord has commanded and now his life is in danger. That is why Elijah said to the Lord for Him to take his life, rather than him being killed by Jezebel. But the Lord told Elijah to eat and walk 40 days 40 nights. After he arrived at Mount Horeb, the Lord did not gave him words of encouragement or comfort as we might thought He would. The Lord let Elijah let out his frustration and then the Lord gave Elijah a new command, that is a new purpose. By having a new purpose, Elijah knows that his time is not yet up and that the Lord still has tasks for him and that is why Elijah threw away his thoughts of dying and did what the Lord commanded him to. When we fave a dead end, or when it seems that we are at the edge of a cliff, have no hope and no one understand, look at Elijah's journey and learn from him. Seek the Lord and if we do not get words of comfort or encouragement such as, "I am with you", or "don't be afraid" or the like, we should already know that the Lord never leaves us and will always be with us. If the Lord gave us a command instead, then it means that the Lord still has plans for us, that our lives is meaningful for Him. That was enough for Elijah as a comfor and to strengthen his faith. So, let us always believe and have faith in the Lord in all situations and circumstances, for His Word is always there and faithful.
